Narine has its roots in Armenia, where the distinctive Lactobacillus acidophilus Er-2 strain 317/402 was isolated and studied under the direction of Professor Levon A. Erzinkyan.
Closely connected to Armenia's scientific and cultural heritage, the strain became associated with the country's tradition of fermented-milk foods and later developed into a subject of scientific research and biotechnology.
From its early history in fermented-milk forms to modern lyophilized preparations, Narine represents a continuing connection between Armenian scientific heritage and contemporary biotechnology.

Our Connection with Vitaway
Vitaway represents an important part of the Armenian scientific and production foundation of our Narine story. Founded in 1997, the company developed expertise in microbiology, biotechnology, fermentation, and lyophilization, contributing to producing Narine in stable dry forms.
Through our connection with Vitaway, we continue to explore ways of bringing Narine and Narine-derived ingredients into modern wellness and beauty concepts while respecting the strain's scientific heritage.
From Armenian Fermentation to International Collaboration
Narine's story also developed through a long-standing connection with Japan.
During his visits to Japan, Dr. Eduard Dilanyan, founder of Vitaway, prepared Narine yogurt at a Japanese hotel, introducing the traditional fermented-milk form of Narine to people there.
These exchanges became part of a broader relationship connecting Armenian Narine research and production with Japanese researchers, professionals, and wellness communities.

Health Expo 2024 — Tokyo Big Sight, Japan
In February 2024, Vitaway participated in Health Expo 2024 at Tokyo Big Sight, Japan, continuing its international connection with the Japanese wellness and health industry.
The event brought together health, food, supplement, natural products, and wellness companies. Vitaway presented Narine probiotic products and explored opportunities for further collaboration in Japan.
